Think about it, specially if you\u2019re under 35. If I can\u2019t keep my phone turned off during meetings, that\u2019s because my meeting is either too long or less important than my urgencies on management.<\/p>\n\n

Test it. The majority, including managers, will tell you what they do, instead of the reason for them to do so.<\/p>\n\n

An example answer heard from energy company leaders is: \u201cThe mission of the company is to ensure that everybody arrives home safely at night\u2026\u201d. That\u2019s the how and not the why.<\/p>\n\n

Therefore, we\u2019ll never move anyone with a how. Give a meaning to the job and remind it as many times are needed.<\/p>\n\n
